Verdict: Win

I couldn't resist Marsh's buy 1 get 1 free promotion on the bags of apples, so I ended up with way too many apples. Luckily, DY loves apple crisp so I knew what to do with them. I used a 3 lb. bag of apples and multiplied the topping recipe by 1.5 [because that's the best part :)]. Unfortunately, I added way too much sugar which made it too sweet and slightly grainy. Next time I'm halving the sugar, as well as reducing the butter. I'll also bake the dish less because I like my apple crunchier.

Apple Crisp adapted from Allrecipes
Yield: Serves 10

3 lbs all-purpose apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1/2 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 cup quick-cooking oats
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 cup butter, melted

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degree C).

Place the sliced apples in a 9x13 inch pan. Mix the white sugar, 1 tablespoon flour and ground cinnamon together, and sprinkle over apples. Pour water evenly over all.

Combine the oats, 1 cup flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda and melted butter together. Crumble evenly over the apple mixture.

Bake at 350 degrees F for about 35 minutes.
